Winners SFP 2018

We saw a great (almost 100%) increase in the number of Single Figure Presentationas submitted to the The Virtual Winterschool for Computational Chemistry, and for the first time live discussions on SFPs were also available in three separate sessions to fit the time-zones of participants around the world.

The jury was delighted to see that most of the SFPs submitted this year followed the guidelines given for SFPs and were not like "posters" at conferences. Altogether 63 SFPs entered the contest to win the prizes, which were submitted from all continents (with the exception of Antarctica) with a balanced participation of both genders. The topic of the SFPs varied substantially from extended systems such as biomolecules/solids/liquid to small molecular systems.

The jury finally decided to give 5 awards (3 in the PhD and 2 in the Post-doc category) as there were many more SFPs submitted by PhD students than by Post-docs. The winners will receive a cash prize offered by the Elsevier Foundation and the opportunity to present their work at the next event of the Virtual Winterschool.

The winners will be contacted shortly by email how to receive their prize.

Thus the winners are:

PhD category

Post-doc category

With best wishes from the jury:

Prof. Ewa Broclawik from the Polish Academy of Sciences (Poland)
Prof. Paul Geerlings from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium)
Dr. Julianna Olah from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (Hungary)
